Semaglutide is an injectable medication of a glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) antagonist that slows gastric emptying and reduces glucose absorption. Semaglutide increases your insulin production and triggers a hormone that keeps food in your stomach longer. This decreases your appetite makes you feel fuller quicker and longer. So, you eat fewer calories, resulting in weight loss.
What is the process?
Semaglutide is delivered in weekly injections. You’ll start by completing a comprehensive questionnaire about your medical history. At your first appointment you’ll meet with a Nurse Practitioner who will review your current condition of health to ensure you’re a good candidate for Semaglutide. If you are healthy and have an appropriate body mass index you’ll get your first injection with the Nurse Practitioner. Then each week you’ll come in for a very quick injection from a registered nurse. It is important to stay on a very repetitive weekly schedule. If you miss a weekly appointment your dosage may be decreased to minimize side effects. Your experience with side effects will be monitored and dosage will be increased based upon your response to Semaglutide weight loss injections.
How much weight will I lose?
Your weight loss depends upon a variety of factors. Some studies have shown up to ten percent of weight loss in twelve months. You can maximize your weight loss by adopting a robust diet and exercise program. Semaglutide decreases your appetite, but it does not speed up your metabolism. Your body fat percentage may be a better measure of Semaglutide effectiveness than your total weight
Some potential side effects include:
